10:00 am: The Language of Listening10:00 am: The Language of Listening – Course Description: The whistle of a teapot, or bubbles in a pot hint at tasty things to come. The whizz of cars in front of us are warnings, while those traveling beside us are protective. The dial tone that lets us know we are one step closer to speaking to a loved one. In this series of classes we will discuss the many ways we can sharpen our listening skills to make the most of what we hear. Whether your goal is to get out and travel, prepare a special meal, return to school or work, or write the great American novel, we will help you separate the useful signals from all the noise, and to level up your listening skills. Student Criteria: Students interested in this course can be of any skill level and fall anywhere on the spectrum of blindness. They should be comfortable learning in a group setting, willing to actively participate in classes, able to commit to attend all six (6) sessions in there entirety, be able to access the Zoom platform, and be able to hear and understand spoken English and sounds of various pitches/tones. 4:00 pm: Sensing the Seasons on Zoom: EHC’s Fall Virtual Nature Experience4:00 pm: Sensing the Seasons on Zoom: EHC’s Fall Virtual Nature Experience – The days are getting shorter and colder, and we all are eager for the change in season to bring us much needed rain. As we all experience the fall from our own homes, we invite you to join us on zoom for another Sensing the Seasons program as we dive deeper into the water cycle of EHC and how that effects the many Trees and Birds we all love. The series of zoom based meetings will be taking place Friday, November 19th and Saturday, November 20th. In addition to our nature lessons, we will take time to host a audio described virtual camp hike with the sights and sounds of EHC that will likely include some exciting updates on the rebuild of camp. Our virtual fall themed nature program has been in part organized by legend, Dr Hoby Wedler, who has hosted or been part of many EHC STEM programs for youth in the past. Hoby and some of his naturalist friends will be joining the conversation to help us learn more about the science of EHC and help us all gain a deeper connection to nature. Those LightHouse students that are interested in joining us and that sign-up by Friday, November 12th will get a package in the mail filled with some program supplies and nature artifacts from camp that can help enhance your program experience. Who: LightHouse or EHC students of ALL ages If you have any questions or would like to RSVP for the fall Sensing the Seasons on Zoom, please contact Jamey Gump at 415-694-7372 or by email youth@lighthouse-sf.org. |
