7:00 pm: Summer Intergenerational Reel Escape Audio Description Movie Club (hybrid)7:00 pm: Summer Intergenerational Reel Escape Audio Description Movie Club (hybrid) – It’s time for another intergenerational Reel Escape Audio Description Movie Club with your blind and low vision friends. This time around, our movie club gathering will be a hybrid with an option for campers from the EHC Adult session to call in as a group from camp. Our featured film will start after we get a chance to learn a little bit about who has joined us. After the film, we will have space to discuss it or just connect with LightHouse friends. The film for our June gathering has not been selected yet and we hope you can help us with that. Below you will find a couple of links, the first is to a survey where you can share your vote for the film. Followed by a set of links that you can use to register for the event. 10:00 am: Contemporary Jewish Museum Descriptive & Haptic Tour (in-person)10:00 am: Contemporary Jewish Museum Descriptive & Haptic Tour (in-person) – How can art contribute to creating a more just and empathetic world? How might artists draw from their identity, culture, and heritage to inspire fresh perspectives on tradition? Join us for a thought-provoking in-person tour of "Cara Levine: To Survive I Need You to Survive" as we shed light on Jewish tradition and rituals, examining them through the prism of contemporary art, and connect to current social issues. We will explore artworks that delve into concepts of grief, the life cycle, and interconnectedness with our community and environment. In addition to verbal descriptions, this tour will provide a unique opportunity to engage with art through touch and sound. The CJM is opening their doors early to offer private time for our group to explore the galleries, so please arrive by 10:00 so we may all be let in together. The museum is located at 736 Mission Street between fourth and third streets, across from Yerba Buena Gardens with BART and Muni access at Powell Street. On the first and third Mondays of the month, we meet to discuss different topics and share our experiences, thoughts, and knowledge. We are people with similar experiences who genuinely want to support one another in all aspects of living independently with our changing vision. Reading is not required.
