9:00 am: 28th Annual Lowenfeld-Akeson Early Years Symposium, Connection is the Key (in-person)9:00 am: 28th Annual Lowenfeld-Akeson Early Years Symposium, Connection is the Key (in-person) – 28th Annual Lowenfeld-Akeson Early Years Symposium, Connection is the Key: Building rapport, relationships, and realistic expectations The purpose of the Lowenfeld-Akeson Early Years Symposium is to educate service providers, families and students about new developments in the fields of pediatric ophthalmology, neurology and early childhood education of children who are blind or have low vision. The 28th Annual Symposium will be held in-person on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the California School for the Blind at 500 Walnut Street, Fremont, California. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. This year's symposium is co-hosted by the California School for the Blind, LightHouse Little Learners, the California Association for Parents of Children with Visual Impairments and California Deafblind Services.
Tickets to the Symposium are $50 for professionals and $20 for families and students. Families are encouraged to request a scholarship from the Silverman Scholarship Fund to attend the Symposium by emailing us at LowenfeldAkeson@gmail.com. How about the difference between a latte and a macchiato? Maybe you just want to spend a cozy Saturday morning sampling some delicious coffees with friends. Join the Youth Team for our first in-person College Spaces Café on February 17, as we answer all of the above questions and more! You’ll have a chance to learn some new coffee preparation techniques, learn about different coffee-based drinks, blends, and pairings, and of course, drink plenty of coffee. (Note: We will have decaf coffee available as well!) We hope to see you all at the College Spaces Café! *Note: Immediately after the Café, LightHouse will be hosting its next Performance Salon celebrating Black History Month happening on the 10th floor.
