1:00 pm: Superfest Film Festival (hybrid)All students, customers, visitors and staff are required to wear a mask indoors in gatherings of 25 people or more, or if asked to do so in someone's personal space at all our sites. 1:00 pm: Superfest Film Festival (hybrid) – The Superfest Disability Film Festival features films from around the world celebrating disability culture by featuring work by and about people with disabilities. Watch the films in person or on-demand virtually. The first day of films take place at the Freight and Salvage at 2020 Addison St in Berkeley near the Downtown Berkley BART Station. After the first day of films, there will be community social time. The second day of films take place at the Asian Art Museum at 200 Larkin St. in San Francisco, across from the main library and near the Civic Center BART Station. After the second day of films, stay around for a panel discussion featuring some of the makers of one of the featured films. All films will have closed audio descriptions via the All4Access app. Learn more about Superfest, including access information on the Superfest website. Saturday, October 22 at Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, from noon to 2:00 pm Sunday, October 23 at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm You can purchase a Superfest pass that will provide you access to both days of in-person films plus virtual access to the films. Passes range from $0 to $100. No one is turned away for lack of funds. |

Mike Cole, a veteran of all things blindness, will lead this call-in forum to discuss the many day-to-day ins and outs of blindness, from daily living in your home environment to navigating the vast expanse of bureaucracies. There's always a lively crowd sharing their own experiences, so make a cup of coffee (or tea), sit in your favorite chair, and call in to chat about the business of blindness. These mid-week sessions can help you feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve your health, deal with adversity and build strong relationships. We’ll explore a variety of different arts media and prompts that will change each month. Let loose your curiosity and sense of play in a supportive space where you are welcome to experiment with the current LightHouse projects, or bring your own craft to work on alongside friends. No experience is necessary. Wear or bring something you don't mind getting dirty. This October, we will continue exploring book structures such as map fold books, one page zines and stab stitch books along with other paper things that cam be opened such as origami boxes and envelopes. 1:00 pm: Family Pumpkin Palooza (in-person)All students, customers, visitors and staff are required to wear a mask indoors in gatherings of 25 people or more, or if asked to do so in someone's personal space at all our sites. 1:00 pm: Family Pumpkin Palooza (in-person) – 2022 LightHouse Family Pumpkin Palooza With Halloween just around the corner and an abundance of everything pumpkin everywhere, it’s time to gather and embrace the season with other LightHouse families. Whether the family member that is blind or low vision is a parent or a child, we would like to invite you and your family to our next Family Pumpkin Palooza. Our Halloween theme festival hosted by the LightHouse Community Services team and Living Skills instructors are scheduled for the afternoon of October 29 at our headquarters in San Francisco. We will have pumpkins and lots of fun. The fun will begin with pumpkin carving for all with some helping hands from our Living Skills team for those that may need some help developing these carving skills. In addition to practicing your carving skills we will have you all showing off your artistic and culinary skills with our pumpkin cupcake decorating and tasting challenge. All followed by a costume contest including categories for most elaborate costume, most creative costume and possibly a best family themed costume.

The LightHouse is scent-free. Please abstain from wearing colognes, perfumes, or other scented products. Additionally, coffee must be securely lidded at all times and citrus should not be peeled on the premises. Thanks for supporting our efforts to respect chemical sensitivities!
