Bay Are Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP) Goalball Practice is a fun way to get exercise and meet new people. The practice is designed for beginners and experienced players. If you do not have your own equipment, we can provide you with both elbow and knee pads and eyeshades.

7:15 pm: Crip Ecstasy, Presented by Octavia Rose Projects (in-person)

Crip Ecstasy is an immersive nightlife experience that centers accessibility from the ground up. Working with a cast of disabled and non-disabled performance artists, DJs, ASL interpreters and Audio Describers, this installation will transform San Francisco’s CounterPulse Theater into an environment where multiple forms of access intersect to conjure a new blueprint for what a club space can be.

Accessibility: ASL Interpretation, Audio Description, Access Tour/Touch Tour/Haptic Tour, Live-captioned sound descriptions for music, chill-out space, access doulas, multiple seating options, pillows & daybeds across the party space, ADA accessible venue.

The pre-show haptic tour is at 7:15 pm and the event beings at 8:00 pm.

The theater is located at 80 Turk St. in San Francisco.

West Coast premiere! Set in Southern California in the 1930s, Yerma is Lorca’s lyrical exploration of infertility, feminism, and obsession. Yerma is a woman who deeply loves her husband Juan, but she longs above all to have a child. In this darkly poetic fable, Yerma’s all-consuming desire propels her into a collision with the universe that is urgent and terrible in scope. 6:00 pm: Author: Sara Nović On Writing and Connecting with the Deaf Community (online)

This event is hosted the San Francisco Public Library.

Sara Nović will discuss her book True Biz, a novel that follows a year of change for a teacher and her students at a boarding school for the Deaf, with a Q&A to follow. She holds an MFA from Columbia University in fiction and literary translation. Her first novel, Girl at War, won the American Library Association’s Alex Award and was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. She is an instructor of Deaf Studies and creative writing. She lives in Pennsylvania.

This program will be in American Sign Language and an interpreter and captioning services will be provided.

10:00 am: BART Book Club: Train Read-In (in-person)

BART is starting a book club! The first book is Hua Hsu’s Stay True, a bracing coming-of-age story set in 1990s Berkeley.

BART riders will gather for a train read-in that starts at Rockridge Station and end at Glen Park Station. They'll gather in the first car of the train to meet fellow riders, discuss the book, and read together. Expect BART and book-themed giveaways!

If you are signed up for the National Library Service, Braille and Audio Reading Download has an audio version of the book at number DB 110669.

For a digital cartage version of the book, or to sign up for the National Library service, which provides audio and braille books to print disabled readers, San Francisco residents should contact e Talking Books and Braille Center and Bay Area residents outside of San Francisco should contact the Braille and Talking Books Library.

You can also get a print, audio or ebook version of the book from your local library.

If you'd like to purchase the book, BART has partnered the following independent Bay Area books to offer a 20% discount. The nearest BART station for each bookstore is listed.
