Guest Speaker Series: Leigh Cooper, All About Freewill.com
Monday, April 8, 1-2 PM

A will is a legal document that spells out your wishes for after you’re gone. It’s something everyone should have, even if you don’t feel like you have an “estate” or something to pass on. LightHouse has partnered with a company to offer free will writing software to our community. FreeWill.com makes it easy to make a plan for your future and, if you choose, for the future of LightHouse. LightHouse grant writer Leigh Cooper will share the ins and outs of using the service and and field your questions. To RSVP, contact Adult Program Coordinator Serena Olsen at solsen@lighthouse-sf.org or 415-694-7316.

11:00 am: Select the Right Tech

Apr 18

If you are blind or visually impaired, finding the right piece of access technology can be a big, and sometimes daunting, undertaking. But knowing what options can meet your needs is the first step. Back by popular demand, the LightHouse Access Technology department is offering you a chance to see first hand the latest and greatest in access technology.

We've invited a variety of access technology vendors to come show you magnification, Braille displays, hand held devices, apps and more. You can browse the vendor tables, compare devices and ask questions. While you are here, chat with a Lighthouse technology specialist to get tips on selecting the right technology to meet your individual needs, and learn how you can receive training on your access technology at the LightHouse.

When: Thursday, April 18, 2019, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired 1155 Market St 10th Floor San Francisco, CA 94103

For questions, or to RSVP, contact Shen Kuan, skuan@lighthouse-sf.org or (415) 694-7312.

Note: LightHouse offers space for vendors to show their products to the blind community, but vendor participation in this event does not imply LightHouse endorsement.

(All day): Cycle for Sight

(All day)
Apr 20

For over a decade, Cycle for Sight & Rotary Ride for Veterans has been the preeminent Napa Valley community cycling event for both local Napa Valley residents and visitors alike. During this time, we have raised over two million dollars to support our primary beneficiaries – The Pathway Home program and Enchanted Hills Camp for the Blind, as well as numerous other local charities. We’re proud to offer bike riding experiences for the beginner to the advanced, and everyone in between. Our post-ride festival features cuisine from Napa Valley restaurants, a bounty of Napa Valley wineries and micro-breweries, and live music from the band Pride & Joy. We have three ride courses: 15, 25 and 50 miles—something for every kind of cyclist. Festival-only passes are available for those not riding. Early-bird pricing is available through March 1st, 2019. 2019 will be yet another great day on the bike, with old friends and new, and in support of raising funds for those in need. We hope you will join us. To donate, register, or find out more information, visit the Cycle for Sight website.  If you are a Lighthouse student and would like to ride in Cycle for Sight, please contact Amber Sherrard at asherrard@lighthosue-sf.org or (415)-694-7353. No tandem bike or pilot is required, just a willingness to ride and have fun!
