1:00 pm: Breathe Deeper: Learning the Breath & Bandhas1:00 pm: Breathe Deeper: Learning the Breath & Bandhas – This workshop will focus on deepening our awareness and understanding of breath and bandhas We will explore what and where the bandhas are and how bandhas make the practice of the postures safer and more powerful in their effects. We will practice how to apply bandhas while holding a posture and during the practice of pranayama, also known as the breath. We will explore how to use these techniques to improve postural and body awareness in our everyday movements.
Bandhas are gateways into the energetic and more subtle aspects of practicing yoga. Their energetic effects bring lightness and internal strength to the physical body. Practice of the bandhas also stimulates our digestive fire and shifts our energy system into higher gear. With regular practice we collect, transform and re-direct our energy.
Please come with an empty stomach. This workshop is for students new to yoga as well as experienced practitioners.
This yoga workshop recurs on the 4th Saturday of every month with a different topic. To RSVP, contact Health and Wellness Coordinator Amber Sherrard at asherrard@lighthouse-sf.org |

Camp activities include swimming, horseback riding, crafts, games, nature studies, parent discussion groups and evening activities such as the family talent show. 10:00 am: Knitting10:00 am: Knitting – Every week, our knitters gather to share their purls of wisdom and get in the loop on each other’s latest project, and usually end up in stitches spinning yarns. Whether you knit for pleasure, distraction or just practical economics, or you’ve never done it before and want to give it a try, there’s always room for another loom. Learn, refine, or teach a skill that makes your gift-giving budget lighter weight or support a student-led altruistic project like knitting chemo caps, beanies for babies, lap blankets or other creative applications.
