Oct 9(1 event) 1:00 pm: Discover the Monarch: Braille & Tactile Graphics Display (in-person) – LightHouse San Francisco, 1155 Market St., San Francisco Get ready for an exciting hands-on experience with the Monarch, the groundbreaking multi-line Braille and tactile graphics display! Developed through a collaboration between the American Printing House for the Blind and Humanware, the Monarch is the first device to offer both detailed tactile graphics and formatted Braille on a single device. Join us at the LightHouse for the Blind as we dive into the future of accessible technology! You’ll be among the first to explore this revolutionary innovation, which lets you access thousands of pre-made tactile graphics and eBooks, and even graph mathematical equations with ease. You will learn how to navigate and orient yourself to the display, gain an introductory understanding of the Monarch’s capabilities, and learn how to access and explore a tactile graphic. This exclusive training, hosted by the LightHouse For the Blind in partnership with the Talking Books and Braille Center (TBBC), is designed for patrons with some Braille knowledge and prior experience with Braille displays. We hope that you will take part in this exciting metamorphosis occurring in the Braille technology landscape. Ready to reserve your spot? Space is limited to six people due to the hands-on nature of this training, so get in touch with us right away. RSVP to Gabe Griffith at GGriffith@lighthouse-sf.org OR 415-694-7680. We can't wait to see you there! |
