About Claire Spector:
Claire Spector is an established contemporary textile artist who sews by
feel. Since 2005, her near vision is multiple, misaligned and unstable; she is very sensitive to light, motion and geometric patterns, walks with a red and white cane and uses assistive technology. When she was quite young, her artist mother, Barbara, taught her to sew by hand, to knit, draw and make prints. Now, guided by touch, she stitches referencing edges, seams and tactile embroidery following a flow. Sharing art created in this fashion opens dialogues and opportunities to explore new possibilities in making tactile art for a more vibrant life.

About ACT-Solutions.org Collaborative Abilities
In 2009, as part of her own rehabilitation, Claire co-founded the Santa Rosa-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Advanced Collaborative Team Solutions, Inc. (ACT-Solutions.org), with three collaborative attorney colleagues. She serves as the organization’s president and CEO and as director of ACT-Solutions.org's Collaborative Abilities project. Collaborative Abilities teams facilitate better health, educational, rehabilitation and vocational outcomes for seriously injured and disabled adults and children with special needs, thus reducing long-term care costs, the burden on families, courts, administrative agencies, insurers, and tax payers.
