Oct 2Members of the public are invited to attend the Thursday, October 2, 2025, meeting of the Board of Directors of San Francisco’s LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired. This virtual meeting will be held via Zoom and will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Pacific.
Please Note: The meeting will start at 5:30 with the executive session until 6:30. At that time, we will resume the public agenda, which will include time for public comment.
RSVP’s & Public Comment
Thirty (30) minutes will be reserved for public comment. Members of the public will have up to three (3) minutes to comment.
If you would like to attend the virtual meeting, please complete the following form. Link: LightHouse Public Comment and RSVP Sign Up form.
Whether you plan to have a public comment or not, you will need to fill out this form to get the Zoom info. Zoom information will be emailed closer to the date of the board meeting.

White Cane Day Celebration White Cane Day Celebration

Oct 4Our 3rd annual march across the Golden Gate Bridge will take place on Saturday, October 4. This is a free event, open to all ages and all who are interested. Bring your canes, your guide dog, and your sighted allies as we all come together to celebrate the BVI community! Participants can come to the EBC or LH locations for LightHouse shuttles, or meet us at the North Vista Point. An after-party with light refreshments will be held post-march at the LightHouse HQ in San Francisco.

White Cane Day Schedule
- 7:30 - 8:00 AM — Meet at Earle Baum Campus (4539 Occidental Rd, Santa Rosa) for shuttle service
- 8:00 - 8:30 AM — Meet at LightHouse HQ (1155 Market St., 10th Floor, SF) for shuttle service
- 9:30 AM — All marchers meet at North Vista Point
- 10:00 AM — March across the Golden Gate Bridge begins
- 11:30 am — Last marchers off the Bridge, last shuttle departs for LightHouse HQ
- 11:30 am - 1:30 pm — Celebration at LightHouse HQ
- 1:30 PM — Shuttle will depart to Earle Baum Campus
Important Information
- The march across the Golden Gate Bridge is a 1.9 mile walk. We kindly ask that all marchers take the proper precautions to ensure a safe and comfortable walk.
- San Francisco weather can be unpredictable! Please be sure to monitor the weather as the date approaches and dress appropriately.
- Light snacks and refreshments will be provided after the march, but we encourage all participants to come nourished, hydrated, and prepared for the long walk.

Are you struggling to adapt to changes in your vision? Do you feel alone in navigating daily life with impaired vision? This group offers a supportive space to share experiences, insights, and strategies for living independently with changing vision.Following a cycle of topics from Hannah Fairbairn’s When You Can’t Believe Your Eyes: Vision Loss and Personal Recovery, we’ll practice communication skills such as self-advocacy, boundary setting, and speaking up in medical settings, social events, and at home. Sessions include discussion, peer sharing, and role-plays.Reading the book is not required, but it is available on BARD (DBC11619) for those who want to explore more deeply. Always wanted to play an instrument and not sure how to get started? Come to the EBC campus on Tuesdays for an all levels Ukulele class. The parts of the ukulele, strings, chords, are all taught through description and assistance. Volunteers, called chord callers, will verbally call out the cord ahead of time, as an accessible way of reading music. The class starts at a more beginner level allowing for everyone to play and warm up, and progresses to more challenging songs. Playing music has been known to develop dexterity, improve cognitive function, exercises the brain, enhances memory, and is simply FUN! Bring your voice and enthusiasm and join in the fun.

People should open one envelope at a time over a plate of something that can collect the small seeds. This group offers a supportive space to share experiences, insights, and strategies for living independently with changing vision.Following a cycle of topics from Hannah Fairbairn’s When You Can’t Believe Your Eyes: Vision Loss and Personal Recovery, we’ll practice communication skills such as self-advocacy, boundary setting, and speaking up in medical settings, social events, and at home. Sessions include discussion, peer sharing, and role-plays.Reading the book is not required, but it is available on BARD (DBC11619) for those who want to explore more deeply. Always wanted to play an instrument and not sure how to get started? Come to the EBC campus on Tuesdays for an all levels Ukulele class. The parts of the ukulele, strings, chords, are all taught through description and assistance. Volunteers, called chord callers, will verbally call out the cord ahead of time, as an accessible way of reading music. The class starts at a more beginner level allowing for everyone to play and warm up, and progresses to more challenging songs. Playing music has been known to develop dexterity, improve cognitive function, exercises the brain, enhances memory, and is simply FUN! Bring your voice and enthusiasm and join in the fun.

Important Information for Our CampersAt EHC, we are dedicated to ensuring every camper has a safe and enjoyable experience. While our staff is committed to providing support, it’s important that campers should be capable of independently managing daily tasks such as grooming, toileting, dressing, feeding, morning and nighttime routines (e.g., brushing teeth), and basic navigation. Our staff will offer assistance as needed. Please understand that we are unable to consistently offer one-on-one assistance to campers. Therefore, all campers must be able to manage their daily living needs with minimal aid. If additional support is necessary, campers are required to bring a personal aide.
