All exercises can be modified to fit anyone’s level. The class also includes gentle aerobics and breath work. 12:30 pm: Hands On Ukulele (in-person) – Earle Baum Campus, 4539 Occidental Rd, Santa Rosa Always wanted to play an instrument and not sure how to get started? Come to the EBC campus on Tuesdays for an all levels Ukulele class. The parts of the ukulele, strings, chords, are all taught through description and assistance. Volunteers, called chord callers, will verbally call out the cord ahead of time, as an accessible way of reading music. The class starts at a more beginner level allowing for everyone to play and warm up, and progresses to more challenging songs. Playing music has been known to develop dexterity, improve cognitive function, exercises the brain, enhances memory, and is simply FUN! Bring your voice and enthusiasm and join in the fun. Each session guides you through extending compassion to a loved one, yourself, a neutral person, someone you may find challenging, and ultimately to all beings, using the simple phrases: May you be safe, may you be happy, may you be healthy, may you live with ease. Enjoy fun activities with your little one, ages 0-6, while learning strategies to support your child's visual, sensory, motor and concept development. Connect with other families who understand and share your experience raising a child who is blind, has low vision, or Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI). Weekly activities are designed to be accessible for all, and to build upon monthly themes that you can integrate into your family routines. All are welcome! Inspired by the Epic of Gilgamesh, science fiction, and archeological fantasy, A Roadmap to Stardust explores our relationship with the cosmos. To make our upcoming White Cane Day event even more vibrant and fun, we’re putting together a small team of sign-makers! This is a great way to get creative, meet people, and show your support for the community. We’re looking for a group of volunteers to help make signs for this year’s march. No art skills required, just your creativity and enthusiasm. Most people really enjoy the process, and it’s a great way to show your support for the blind and low vision community. All exercises can be modified to fit anyone’s level. The class also includes gentle aerobics and breath work. 12:30 pm: Hands On Ukulele (in-person) – Earle Baum Campus, 4539 Occidental Rd, Santa Rosa Always wanted to play an instrument and not sure how to get started? Come to the EBC campus on Tuesdays for an all levels Ukulele class. The parts of the ukulele, strings, chords, are all taught through description and assistance. Volunteers, called chord callers, will verbally call out the cord ahead of time, as an accessible way of reading music. The class starts at a more beginner level allowing for everyone to play and warm up, and progresses to more challenging songs. Playing music has been known to develop dexterity, improve cognitive function, exercises the brain, enhances memory, and is simply FUN! Bring your voice and enthusiasm and join in the fun. This virtual meeting will be held via Zoom and will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Pacific. Please Note: The meeting will start at 5:30 and will head into executive session until 6:30. Oct 4(1 event) 10:00 am: White Cane Day Celebration – Our 3rd annual march across the Golden Gate Bridge will take place on Saturday, October 4. This is a free event, open to all ages and all who are interested. Bring your canes, your guide dog, and your sighted allies as we all come together to celebrate the BVI community! Participants can come to the EBC or LH locations for LightHouse shuttles, or meet us at the North Vista Point.
