End of Year Letter from the Board of Directors
Dear LightHouse Community,
As we close out 2025, we want to take a moment to reflect on a year that has truly been a whirlwind. There have been many bright spots, including the relaunch of the Adaptations Store and the wonderful turnout for annual events such as the Beeping Egg Hunt, LightHouse Day, the 75th Anniversary of EHC, and a record-breaking White Cane Day, with hundreds of our community members crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. Thank you for showing up, engaging, and standing with our community.
At the same time, this year has not been without challenges. Despite staff reductions earlier in the year, LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired reached an important milestone. In FY25, the number of people served increased by 48%, and direct services expanded by 36%. These outcomes reflect the resilience of our organization and the unwavering commitment to the people we serve.
On Giving Tuesday, we set an ambitious goal of raising $100,000 to continue providing the experience of a lifetime for blind, DeafBlind, and low vision campers, ages 2 to 72, at Enchanted Hills Camp. This empowering, blind-positive oasis costs approximately $2,500 per week per camper, covering lodging, meals, and more than 12 hours of activities each day. While we are still short of our goal, the need remains great, and your support is more important than ever. We invite you to donate to our camp fund or to one of the many programs operated by LightHouse. Your generosity directly supports our students, campers, and community members.

United in 2026
As one door closes, another opens. On December 12, we shared that the possible partnership with Lighthouse Guild will not move forward. The staff input, executive leadership, union representatives, volunteers, community involvement and our blind and low vision leaders’ commitment are greatly appreciated and valued. If you would like to know more, you can learn more in the updated FAQ on our website.
The Board of Directors of LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired is united in its full support of the entire leadership team as they thoughtfully steer the organization toward long-term sustainability. LightHouse and its leaders continue to value accountability, transparency, and community engagement as we move ahead.
We remain committed to our mission and vision in a world where blind and low vision people flourish. In the coming weeks, we will share more information about opportunities for engagement and how you can be part of shaping our path ahead.
Thank you for your passion, your advocacy, and your continued care for the people at the heart of this organization. Our shared mission remains our guiding force, and it is strongest when we stand together.
With gratitude,
The Board of Directors of LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired
