Our Story
Founded in 1950 by Rose Resnick, Enchanted Hills was the first camp on the West Coast designed specifically for blind children. It filled a vital need by creating a safe and empowering place for blind and low vision youth to explore, gain confidence, and thrive.
Today, EHC is owned and operated by LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, retaining much of its historic charm while benefiting from continual improvements to accessibility, facilities, and programming.
The Summer Camp Experience
Summer camp at Enchanted Hills offers countless opportunities for growth, friendship, and adventure. Whether hiking a wooded trail, paddling across the lake, or performing a skit with friends, campers of all ages build lifelong memories, skills, and confidence in an environment that celebrates independence and connection.
Each summer, EHC comes alive with a wide range of sessions designed for different ages, interests, and support needs. From young campers eager to explore the camp environment, to teens developing leadership skills, and adults deepening community connections or discovering new passions — there is something for everyone in our camp of programs.
A Typical Day
A typical day at camp begins as the sun peeks over the mountain with camp fun continuing all day until around 9:00 pm or 10:00 pm depending on the age group of the session. Days are full and active, with a mix of structured and unstructured activities throughout the day and all-camp activities in the evening that bring everyone together.
Meals are served family-style at 8:30 am, 12:30 pm, and 6:00 pm, with a series of activities hosted by our area leaders. These activities that the area leaders host change daily and are shared during the program announcements during mealtimes. Are main program areas we have at camp and some of the activities they host may include:
- Aquatics – Swimming and water play in our lake or pool
- Arts & Crafts – Hands-on creative projects using a wide variety of materials and techniques
- Enrichment – Music, games, social activities, and special interest programs that change by session
- Recreation – Adapted sports and group games such as Goalball, archery, basketball, and other outdoor games
- Nature – Guided hikes, outdoor exploration, crafts, lessons, and the occasional drum circle, all designed to encourage connection to the each other and the camp community
Each day balances activity, independence, and community, creating space for campers to try new things, build confidence, and end the day tired in the best possible way.

Beyond Summer
When summer sessions end, the Enchanted Hills Napa (EHN) team transforms the space into a year-round retreat center, hosting corporate gatherings, weddings, conferences, and events for groups, families, fellow nonprofits and community organizations. These rentals help sustain and expand the programs that make EHC such a special place for the blindness and low vision community.
How You Can Help
Enchanted Hills Camp thrives because of a generous and passionate community that believes in creating transformative experiences for blind and low-vision campers. If you love EHC and want to help keep the magic going, there are several meaningful ways to make a difference.
Give to the Campership Campaign – Each summer, hundreds of campers attend EHC at no cost to them or their families—but the true cost of camp is significant. Through the Campership Campaign, your donation directly supports meals, staffing, adaptive equipment, counselor training, and the full cost of ensuring each camper has a life-changing experience at camp. Every contribution, large or small, helps us keep EHC accessible to all. https://secure.qgiv.com/for/gtehc/
Purchase an Item from Our Amazon Wish List – Looking for a tangible way to help? Our Amazon Wish List features items we know we need for the upcoming season—from sports equipment and art supplies to tools, adaptive recreation gear, and practical essentials.
