Vision Peer Led Support Group (online)
Vision runs on a 12-week cycle of topics based on Hannah Fairbairn’s 2019 book, “When You Can’t Believe Your Eyes: Vision Loss and Personal Recovery”. We discuss different topics and share experiences, thoughts, and knowledge. We are people with similar experiences who genuinely want to support one another in all aspects of living independently with our changing vision. Each week the topics are independent, so you can join the group at any week. Reading is not required. However, if you want topic details beyond our discussions, please refer to the book available on BARD (DBC11619).
Aug 5: No Class
Aug 19: Chapter 9 Independent Socializing addresses strategies for independent socializing after vision loss. It emphasizes the importance of preparation and planning, such as calling hosts and other guests for assistance and details. Techniques for compensating for visual cues and engaging effectively in social events are also provided. The chapter encourages self-advocacy and building confidence in social interactions.
