Translating Space Images Into Sound: A Youth and Family Lesson About Making Space Accessible

Join us as we hear from visualization scientist Kimberly Kowal Arcand from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory along with collaborator, astrophysicist and musician Matt Russo from science-art outreach project SYSTEM Sounds as we learn about a new sonification technique that translates cosmic images into music. Our conversation and proceeding presentation from Kimberly will go into more detail about how they do this and answer any questions you may have about this cool new way we represent data and images of space.
