Have you ever wondered what to do if your guide dog chokes or has a health issue when you can’t get them to a vet quickly? What if you are out working your dog and they need medical help? Peter Pay from NorCal Pet CPR will show you the ins-and-outs of taking care of your guide dog when they can’t take care of you—responding effectively to an animal medical emergency until you can get your guide to a vet, including choking, administering CPR, how to control bleeding and treating wounds and burns, how to care for suspected breaks and dislocations, allergic reactions, bites, and stings, and so much more. This training is free and you will receive a certificate verifying your completion of training for participating in the entire 4-hour course (expect moderate physical activity). Spaces are limited so secure yours by contacting Adult Program Coordinator Serena Olsen at solsen@lighthouse-sf.org or 415-694-7316. Preference will be given to guide dog users.
