Dance to Life (in-person)

DANCE TO LIFE is an 8-week introduction course to movement, exploring basic steps to 6 ballroom dances, and to increase socialization with others in the class and motivate students to enhance their independence through developing new skills and interests. The 6 basic ballroom dances that will be explored include: Waltz, Rumba, Fox Trot, East Coast Swing, Tango, and Cha Cha. Basic step patterns, rhythms, dance positions, and lead and follow methods will be taught. The instructor, Denise Vancil, is blind and is an experienced dance instructor who has studied and performed a variety of ballroom dances, tap dance, Club and Latin dance etc. Dance is the perfect combination of physical exercise, enhancement of memory, socialization and fun!
This 8 week beginner’s course is an introduction to some basic social partner ballroom dances. Each week will focus on 2 dances that have similarities with one smooth dance and one rhythm dance per class. The class will include a very basic introduction on dance positions, dance frames, rhythm, foot patterns, and learning to work together with other class mates to experience the lead and follow, to fun music in a supportive environment.
