Join fencing coaches and movement specialists Brandon Smith and Stacey Breidenstein from SF Fencing Academy for an intro to the sport of Blind Fencing. Fencing has been taught to the blind and visually impaired in the US since the 1950s! The series will cover the foundational concepts of the sport including fencing stance and footwork, how to orient yourself on the fencing strip or the area of play, blade work including attacks and parries (blocks), how to participate in a bout, as well as tactics and strategy. In class we’ll explore learning through listening and feel, and explore areas of balance and proprioception through fun, guided movement, and fencing drills. Come learn this game of tactical tag in a fun, safe, supportive environment.
