Join us for this special training and community building conversation for all Pride participants, allies, volunteers, and any folks still on the fence about participating in our Pride contingent and festivities. The training portion will cover how to be an effective human guide and what it means to show up as an “ally” for community members with multiple marginalized identities. The training will also go over logistics, what to expect, and instructions for the day of the Pride parade, for both community members and volunteers. Following the discussion, we will be having a special poster decorating party. An important aspect of the BE SEEN contingent is that those marching with us feel seen and represented in a way that is meaningful for them; and one way to do this includes carrying signage or posters conveying personalized messages. We encourage everyone who is participating to join us in making posters we can carry as a community. We will have poster board and art supplies, and you may bring anything that you’d like to add personal flair. This is also our opportunity to discuss our community chants for the day of the parade. Participation in this event is optional for parade participants, but is strongly encouraged for volunteers and human guides for Pride. To register for this event please contact Laura Millar at 415-694-7345 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
