All Eyes on Allies: A Special Pride Training and Community Building Event

Jun 22

'All Eyes on Allies' is a special training and community building event for all Pride participants, allies, volunteers, and any last minute folks still on the fence about participating in the Pride parade and festivities. The training portion will cover how to be an effective human guide and what it means to show up as an “ally” for LGBT blind or visually impaired community members with multiple marginalized identities. The training will also go over logistics, what to expect and instructions for the day of the Pride parade, followed by a special poster decorating party.

An important aspect of BE SEEN contingent is that those marching with us feel seen and represented in a way that is meaningful for them; and one way to do this includes carrying signage or posters conveying personalized messages.  So following the training portion of this event we will break out into small groups to decorate and create individualized posters and signs.  Poster-board and art supplies will be provided, but it is Pride so feel free to bring all the decorations and bling you want, to make your sign uniquely yours!

‘All Eyes on Allies’, is an important and fun training and community building event leading up to the Pride parade, and is one event you wont want to miss! Participation in this event is optional for parade participants, but is strongly encouraged for those who want to be a volunteer or be a human guide for the day of the parade. To register for this event please call Laura Millar at 415-694-7345 or e-mail lmillar@lighthouse-sf.org .
