Our 3rd annual march across the Golden Gate Bridge will take place on Saturday, October 4. This is a free event, open to all ages and all who are interested. Bring your canes, your guide dog, and your sighted allies as we all come together to celebrate the BVI community! Participants can come to the EBC or LH locations for LightHouse shuttles, or meet us at the North Vista Point. An after-party with light refreshments will be held post-march at the LightHouse HQ in San Francisco.

White Cane Day Schedule

• 7:30 – 8:00 AM — Meet at Earle Baum Campus (4539 Occidental Rd, Santa Rosa) for shuttle service
• 8:00 – 8:30 AM — Meet at LightHouse HQ (1155 Market St., 10th Floor, SF) for shuttle service
• 9:30 AM — All marchers meet at North Vista Point
• 10:00 AM — March across the Golden Gate Bridge begins
• 11:30 am — Last marchers off the Bridge, last shuttle departs for LightHouse HQ
• 11:30 am – 1:30 pm — Celebration at LightHouse HQ
• 1:30 PM — Shuttle will depart to Earle Baum Campus

Important Information

• The march across the Golden Gate Bridge is a 1.9 mile walk. We kindly ask that all marchers take the proper precautions to ensure a safe and comfortable walk.
• San Francisco weather can be unpredictable! Please be sure to monitor the weather as the date approaches and dress appropriately.
• Light snacks and refreshments will be provided after the march, but we encourage all participants to come nourished, hydrated, and prepared for the long walk.

Sign Making Meet-Up

To make our upcoming White Cane Day event even more vibrant and fun, we’re putting together a small team of sign-makers! This is a great way to get creative, meet people, and show your support for the community. No art skills required, just your creativity and enthusiasm. Most people really enjoy the process, and it’s a great way to show your support for the blind and low vision community. Join us for one or both days!

White Cane Day Merch 

Merch is back! Each item features the white cane day logo. Logo description: An illustration of the Golden Gate Bridge with white canes with varying cane tips holding up the bridge. There are clouds on either side of the bridge and between the two towers are the words “WHITE CANE DAY.” The bridge is orange, the canes and text are white, and the clouds are light blue.

The following items will be made available for purchase in-person only at the LightHouse HQ during the Sign Making Meet-Ups on September 25 and October 2 and on event day, Saturday October 4:
