An Update to Our Community, Supporters and Providers
The LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired is committed to listening to its stakeholders and building a stronger and more sustainable organization. We want to continue serving blind, low vision and DeafBlind people for many years to come.
In the spirit of collaboration and greater impact, LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired and Lighthouse Guild in New York are beginning to explore a partnership with a specific structure to be determined at a later date. Both organizations are aligned in empowering individuals who are blind, have low vision or who are DeafBlind to live with independence, purpose and dignity. The exploratory partnership conversations are just getting started. They are rooted in shared values, careful due diligence, and a mutual commitment to strengthening services for the communities we serve coast-to-coast. A disability-lead culture and community representation will guide any outcome.
Our Board of Directors and leadership are inviting community input as we explore a potential partnership. Staff reductions at LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired are on pause through the end of the year. We are also briefly delaying the search for a new CEO, as appropriate, to any progress made.
