Every week, our knitters gather to share their purls of wisdom and get in the loop on each other’s latest project, and usually end up in stitches spinning yarns. Whether you knit for pleasure, distraction or just practical economics, or you’ve never done it before and want to give it a try, there’s always room for another loom. Learn, refine, or teach a skill that makes your gift-giving budget lighter weight or support a student-led altruistic project like knitting chemo caps, beanies for babies, lap blankets or other creative applications.

This annual celebration hosted by Senior and Disability Action is designed to bring together community partners, elected officials, city staff, and members to honor each other and our work in the community. This year’s theme is Community Pride, recognizing all that has been accomplished in this difficult time. It is a casual event, with a short (30-minute) program, a silent auction, a drawing, food and wine, and time for people to mingle. This is a public event but tickets are required. Visit the website for tickets and details.
Last October, a devastating series of wildfires broke out in Napa County which severely damaged Enchanted Hills Camp. The wildfire destroyed almost 29 of our lower camp structures in the redwoods, including the 10 cabins that have housed hundreds of summer campers and counselors every year since 1950. This past summer, Enchanted Hills welcomed back campers for the first time since the devastating fires. While blind campers have played, roamed, and grown over this past summer, our camp needs help regrowing as well! Will you help us? We are hosting a Volunteer Day at Enchanted Hills Camp on Saturday, October 6th. We will be coming together as a community to rebuild our home away from home. Some projects that we may work on include, trail maintenance, invasive species removal, and building. We will also have a BBQ lunch! We only have a limited number of spaces, so RSVP to volunteer today!
• Age: All volunteers must be at least 14 years old. If you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian with you.
Please RSVP here. If you have any questions please contact Allyson Ferrari at aferrari@lighthouse-sf.org or (415) 694 - 7320. We hope to see you on October 6th as we continue to grow.
Join us at Let’s Go Hiking, this time at the Lafayette Reservoir! We will be doing the two and a half mile Lakeside Nature Trail. This is a relatively flat and paved trail, ideal for a Sunday stroll. We will be meeting at the Lafayette BART station and shuttling from there. We will have volunteers on the hike to help guide. Please RSVP by emailing asherrard@lighthouse-sf.org or calling (415) 694 – 7353. All fitness levels are welcome!

2. Transitional age youth will elevate their attitude and awareness in a variety of opportunities from accessing internships and employment using local public transportation to memorable study abroad experiences for personal and professional growth.
3. Students will participate in interactive activities as they plan, prepare for, and execute a route using public transportation.
4. The over-night nature of the YES workshop provide opportunities for students to refine their workplace readiness soft skills including effective social and professional communication and independent living all while building community with their blind and low vision peers.
Things to Bring:

Every week, our knitters gather to share their purls of wisdom and get in the loop on each other’s latest project, and usually end up in stitches spinning yarns. Whether you knit for pleasure, distraction or just practical economics, or you’ve never done it before and want to give it a try, there’s always room for another loom. Learn, refine, or teach a skill that makes your gift-giving budget lighter weight or support a student-led altruistic project like knitting chemo caps, beanies for babies, lap blankets or other creative applications.
