The LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, located in downtown San Francisco, is looking for a full-time Facilities Manager to step into a unique role in our ever-expanding organization! You’ll be working closely with our facility and hospitality operations. The Facilities Manager will partner with the Director of Facilities and other LightHouse Associates throughout the agency on daily tasks. We are a fun, fascinating, and widely diverse, multi-cultural and a disability advocacy community of warm and friendly folks. We work in a beautiful new building in downtown San Francisco, steps from the Civic Center Bart stop, with spectacular views from our top floor offices.


The Facilities Manager is a full-time position, providing support to facility and hospitality operations. Facilities Manager will manage the LightHouse residences, hospitality and reception staff. The position will also assist with exhibiting rental spaces; executing agreements; fulfilling insurance requirements; collecting fees; set up, break down and janitorial planning for event spaces; safety concerns, and audio/visual needs.

The main work site for this position is at the LightHouse Building in San Francisco. The Manager must be flexible to travel to Bay Area satellite offices if an event is being planned in another location.


Education or equivalent: A college degree or comparable experience.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hospitality, facilities, customer service or administrative management; a background or knowledge of the disability community is desirable.

  • Hands on experience working in art events or indoor programs in professional environment, is preferred but not required. (Successful applicant will have thorough on-the-job training upon hire.)
  • Previous experience in Facilities and Hospitality preferred.


  • Ability to lift and transport up to 30 pounds regularly, with occasional loading and uploading up to approximately 50 pounds, may be required.
  • Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing or walking for long periods of time.
  • Ability to safely and properly use tools and equipment.
  • Solid physical endurance sufficient for occasional prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to work with exposure to environmental conditions.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and perform computer-intensive work for long periods of time; operate standard office equipment; ability to work at offsite location(s) independently as needed.


  • Reports to Director of Facilities and assists in event coverage when needed.
  • Setting up conference and meeting rooms, before and after their use.
  • Assists with floor plan design and event notifications.
  • Responsible for properly delivery event notification of set up expectations with evening crew when needed. Required to conduct event walkthroughs with new and existing event stakeholders independently, and to make suggestions for set up and A/V needs. Shared responsibility for writing rental contracts and processing rental deliverables.
  • Act as safety monitor for equipment loading and set up for large and private events.
  • Working knowledge of internal A/V equipment operations; familiarity with accessibility features to set up events properly and provide light training as needed.
  • Able to troubleshoot A/V issues when they arise, which may require communications with A/V technicians BBI (vendor).
  • Management and coordination of our Residence Halls, including but not limited to check-in and check-out communication, deliveries of Food & Beverage supplies, meal prep coordination, janitorial and laundry service scheduling, managing of dorm room staff hours and responsibilities, key card and room assignments.
  • Work with Director of Facilities to coordinate day and night-time janitorial services as needed for office hours or events.
  • Report and resolve issues via work order, system, in tandem with the Director of facilities and building property management team (CBRE).
  • Ownership of LightHouse Hospitality services, ie. Coordinating with beverage and Coffee set-up and breakdown daily of appliances in Coffee pantry.
  • Restocking and work with procurement to fulfill inventory needs
  • Review the daily office calendar, resolve scheduling conflicts and provide event notification to the Webmaster.
  • Management of Reception team, providing relief and fill in for shifts if necessary.
  • Seek to establish reception as a warm and friendly gateway to all LightHouse experiences.
  • Participates in the 1155 Market Safety Committee.
  • Consistent pre and post-event walkthroughs for site documentation of damage or needed repairs as a result of events. Also applies to morning walkthroughs daily for same overview.
  • Daily audits of all A/V units throughout LightHouse to ensure they are user-ready
  • Responsible to be an event lead when needed, for evening and weekend events.
