Join expert George Wurtzel at Woodworking for the Blind’s 6th Annual Summer Workshop at the Enchanted Hills Camp. This workshop is for beginning to intermediate woodworkers. The Workshop features four full days of instruction in the beautiful hills outside Napa. This will be an introduction to routers, table saws, lathes, measuring with a click rule, gauge blocks, gluing, screwing, nailing, and a basic overview on how all these things work.

We will concentrate on, wood joinery including dovetails, mortise and tenons, box finger joints and lap and bridle joints, and the basics of table and cabinet making. In addition, there will be sessions on cutting curves with templates on both router and band saw, as well as woodturning techniques, coloring wood with dyes and stains, finishing guidelines and a presentation on developments in talking tools.

Individual tutoring will be available for beginning woodworkers to give them a broad familiarity with woodworking machines and tools.
Workshop participants will arrive the afternoon of Saturday, August 26 with check in between 3 and 5 p.m., and depart Thursday, August 31 at 10 a.m. Spouses, Companions and Partners are welcome. Registration is limited to 10 participants.

The Summer Workshop Fee is $350, including full use of the workshop facilities, instruction, meals and lodging. Spouses and companions may join for an additional $150.

This session is hosted by blind woodworkers George Wurtzel and Brian Buhrow at their newly expanded, spacious workshop at Enchanted Hills Camp in Napa, California.

 Coming from out of town? Fly to either San Francisco or Oakland Airport. Arrival transportation to Napa is available through Evans Airporter Service at http://evanstransportation.com.

EHC will pick up participants at Evans Airporter Office.
