Are you struggling to adapt to changes in your vision? Do you feel alone in navigating daily life with impaired vision? This group offers a supportive space to share experiences, insights, and strategies for living independently with changing vision.Following a cycle of topics from Hannah Fairbairn’s When You Can’t Believe Your Eyes: Vision Loss and Personal Recovery, we’ll practice communication skills such as self-advocacy, boundary setting, and speaking up in medical settings, social events, and at home. Sessions include discussion, peer sharing, and role-plays.Reading the book is not required, but it is available on BARD (DBC11619) for those who want to explore more deeply. Always wanted to play an instrument and not sure how to get started? Come to the EBC campus on Tuesdays for an all levels Ukulele class. The parts of the ukulele, strings, chords, are all taught through description and assistance. Volunteers, called chord callers, will verbally call out the cord ahead of time, as an accessible way of reading music. The class starts at a more beginner level allowing for everyone to play and warm up, and progresses to more challenging songs. Playing music has been known to develop dexterity, improve cognitive function, exercises the brain, enhances memory, and is simply FUN! Bring your voice and enthusiasm and join in the fun.

Fencing has been taught to the blind and visually impaired in the US since the 1950s! The series will cover the foundational concepts of the sport including fencing stance and footwork, how to orient yourself on the fencing strip or the area of play, blade work including attacks and parries (blocks), how to participate in a bout, as well as tactics and strategy. In class we’ll explore learning through listening and feel, and explore areas of balance and proprioception through fun, guided movement, and fencing drills. Come learn this game of tactical tag in a fun, safe, supportive environment. -

Each person will get 3 cow pots. Each paper bag has three envelopes. Each envelope is labeled what seeds are inside. Inside the envelope is a plastic sandwich bag that holds the seeds. People should open one envelope at a time over a plate of something that can collect the small seeds. The squash envelope has 2 seeds; Chard envelope has 6 seeds and Lettuce envelope has 5 seeds.Marney will describe how to do all of it for us. -
