    18 Reasons, a food education non-profit, wants to empower you with the confidence and creativity needed to buy, cook, and eat good food every day. Cooking Matters is a six-week course in cooking and nutrition, developed by Share our Strength. Led by a chef, a nutritionist, and other knowledgeable staff, we will guide you through the ins and outs of cooking delicious, healthy foods on a budget. Eating fresh and healthy doesn't have to break your bank and 18 Reasons will show you how to stretch your grocery dollar without sacrificing flavor or your health. Registration for the entire six-week course is free, with a required $30 deposit due prior to the first class and returned upon attendance at a minimum of 4 classes. Attending less than 4 classes will result in forfeiture of deposit. Basic kitchen confidence is prerequisite. Program includes course materials, in-class recipe ingredients, and take-home groceries every week for you to play with at home. Note that class 5 will take place off-site and you will be responsible for transportation to the alternate location (Safeway at 2020 Market St.). Please also be advised that you will need to arrive one hour early for both the first and last classes to accommodate intake and evaluation procedures. Spots in this fun and educational cooking class series are limited, so secure your participation by contacting Adult Program Coordinator Serena Olsen at solsen@lighthouse-sf.org or 415-694-7316 to register.     A Bachata Evening Affair

    Fenix Dance Company is coming to the LightHouse to teach us the rhythmic, social dance, Bachata! We will have a social hour from 6 -7:00 p.m. with light refreshments and beverages, then a guided lesson from 7 - 8:30 p.m. Bring your partner or friend for a fun date night or come by yourself to meet new and old friends. No partner or experience is required. We will laugh, eat, drink, play, and dance the night away! This event is free but you are welcome to bring a donation if you’d like.     Enjoy a fifteen-minute one-on-one nutrition counseling session with Alicia Conner who is a visually impaired, Registered Dietitian and excited to provide her services to the LightHouse community. You will leave your session with practical steps to take that will leave you feeling healthier and closer to your goals. Alicia is hoping to offer sessions every third Friday of each month between 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., so check the calendar and stay tuned. Sessions are free and on a first-come, first-serve basis.     I Thought I Knew Me: Self-love, self-worth/validation, self-care
    Power Plunge: Physical body, mental/emotional, spirit/soul

    Sara Waggle of S.E.W. Coaching is a Leadership Coach for trail blazers--those who have grand ideas and feel stuck in creating them, supporting those who want to bring their idea to life. She is a trained ontological coach, meaning that she coaches not only one’s tangible goals, but how one is going about those goals. Her work focuses on self-love, awareness, acceptance, and care as the foundation for living the life one desires. This workshop series is focused on ownership--looking at your responsibility and ownership of time/priorities, health/well being, and energy.
    We will interact in a cozy intimate setting to empower each other in taking ownership of our lives…Owning Your Glitter. Each session will have a specific topic and while attendance to all 3 is not mandatory, there will be overlap in all 3. There will be games and prizes in each session and light refreshments will be provided. Join us for blazing fun in Owning Your Glitter!

    Pole Dance combines strength, flexibility, athleticism, poise, and dance all into one confidence boosting activity. If you've ever wanted to try Pole Dance, this workshop is for you! We are looking for a small group of blind and visually impaired adults to attend a private class at San Francisco Pole and Dance where you will learn the basics of pole dance in a safe and supportive environment. Because of this wonderful partnership, we can offer this class at the very low cost of ten dollars. This class is open to everyone, all genders are welcome.
