Join us every Monday at 2:00 p.m. for a virtual yoga class where Amber will guide you through a full vinyasa flow to keep you healthy and strong. Stress Reduction & Meditation Goes Virtual

Please note that although LightHouse is closed for the holidays, this virtual class is still being held on December 22.

Each Wednesday morning we offer a series of short, meditation-based practices for relaxation and stress reduction. The group is appropriate for both beginners and advanced practitioners and instruction is provided in all aspects of the practice. Instructor Jeffrey Schneider has more than 40 years of meditation and teaching experience. It is a virtual class using the Zoom platform—everyone is welcome as little or often as they like. Dial in, find a comfortable position, breathe deeply, clear your head, and de-stress.

12:30 pm: Optimal Health, Optimal You: Virtual Health Class (online)

Call into our new virtual health class to listen to an episode of our favorite health podcast, Optimal Health Daily. You will have a chance to participate in a group discussion, do a live Q&A with our Health and Wellness guru, Amber, and set weekly health goals to stay fit and fierce!

Youth PLUG-In (Professional Learning Under Guidance) is a virtual connection program designed to keep you engaged and motivated during these uncertain and unusual times, as we remain at home and practice social distancing measures to keep ourselves and the community safe.

Wednesday 5/27 Your Voice Matters and Make it Count: Knowing Your Rights and Advocacy for Yourself and Your Community

Just because we are geographically separated does not mean the world has to halt. On Wednesday's,Youth PLUG-In offers 3 ways for transition-age youth to stay involved and increase your social well-being, pre-employment and transition, and Expanded Core Curriculum skills:

1. Plug-in to an enjoyable and informative weekly social hour, every Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Interesting discussions will be hosted around various topics ranging from sharing helpful assistive tech tools, to receiving creative tips on modifying your kitchen to be more accessible, to meeting guest speakers with experience attending (colleges/independent living centers). The possibilities are endless!

2. Plug-in to individualized supports and mentoring. Now is the time to chat with someone about that question or project that has been on your mind. Whether it be delving into college disability services, requesting recommendations, resume review, or mock interviews, we would be glad to listen. If you are interested in sharing your personal goals and receiving support, please contact Ann Wai-Yee Kwong to learn more!

3. Plug-in to helpful resources. Stay active and engaged with weekly emails packed with helpful information about entertainment, health, scholarships, and more, We are all in this together!

3:00 pm: Reel Escape: Youth Audio Description Movie Club watching "Monsters Inc." (online)

With coronavirus effecting many aspects of our lives we are all doing our best to social distance our self’s while trying to support and stay connected with those around us. LightHouse’s Youth program will host the weekly Reel Escape Audio Description Movie Club that will help students do just that with their blind and low vision friends from the safety of their own home.

Students that RSVP will join a zoom meeting at 3:00 p.m. on the day of the event where we will watch that week’s movie selection. After the showing, we will discuss the film and allow time for students to connect with friends. All movies will be a G or PG rating and will have audio description.

Who: Youth that are Blind or have Low Vision

What: Audio Description Movie Club for youth to connect with friends

When: Thursday at 3:00 pm

When: Every Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in April and May 2020

RSVP: by 5:00 pm of the Wednesday before the club meets. Once you have RSVP’d for the event, you will receive information for a Zoom meeting that you can access from your computer, smart device or call in using a phone

Yoga: Alignment Flow Mondays and Fridays 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. throughout May

LightHouse yoga instructor Kimm Ropicky knows that now, more than ever, it’s vital to our health and wellbeing to get some movement into our lives. Kimm is extending her online class offerings via her private practice to the LightHouse community per the following instructions. Some knowledge of yoga is helpful, though not necessary. Joining the Zoom meeting with your video enabled allows Kimm to provide more detailed feedback, particularly in the event you ask for clarification.

What You Need to Know:
• Be Early--Please join the class 10-15 minutes prior to allow time to resolve technical issues.
• Duration--All classes are 60 minutes in length.
