Your Personal Safety: Getting Back to Normal

Jun 26In response to an increase in anti-Asian violence and apprehensions among LightHouse students about venturing out, the Belonging, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (BIDE) task force came together to develop a personal safety class, in collaboration with George Freeman of KATMA Defense in Savannah, GA for all LightHouse community members. Our goal is to educate our diverse community of students, friends, and family about strategies they can use to feel prepared to travel as restrictions are lifted and in the wake of recent events. Therefore, we are pleased to offer this series of free workshops as a tool to guide our community back to normal.
Your Personal Safety: Getting Back to Normal
Think Safe. Be Safe. Join the LightHouse on Saturday June 26th, 2021 at 1pm (Pacific Time) with self-defense and personal safety instructor George Freeman, an Advance Instructor with SEED which is a program of STRIVE 4You, to learn strategies for going out safely as COVID restrictions are lifted. The first in a three-part series, this workshop will cover tips, strategies, and approaches for feeling more confident being out in the community again. We are encouraging teens, adults and seniors to take part in this virtual 2-hour personal safety seminar, where Mr. Freeman will discuss topics like planning your own personal safety; situation awareness; avoidance and de-escalation techniques. Portions of the presentation will be interactive so be prepared for an informative and engaging event. To participate in this event please RSVP. If you have questions about the workshop, please email Jaclyne at jatoigue@lighthouse-sf.org, or call 415-694-7618.
The events for the upcoming week are read aloud on our event hotline every Friday, which can be accessed by calling (415)694-7325.
