1:45 pm: Audium - Immersive Sound Experience (in-person)

LightHouse students and staff are invited to a free private showing that will include an introduction to Audium, a descriptive tour of the art in the lobby, a forty-five-minute immersive exploration of San Francisco's soundscapes in a totally dark theater and finishing with a chance to speak with Audium originator's son who is offering us this fabulous opportunity. The performance will start promptly at 2:00, please arrive early.

If you would like to learn more about Audium, check out their website. Audium is located at 1616 Bush Street near the corner of Franklin, a block away from Van Ness. (Restrooms are not wheelchair accessible.)

Whether you’re headed back to school, back to work, or just want to perform tasks more efficiently, productivity involves more than knowing the right screen reader or magnification commands. We’ll share our approach to managing time and tasks, choosing the right tools and format to get a job done, hearing screen readers and conversations at once, and explaining how we work with access technology to others.

Are you tracking a dozen Zoom meetings a week? How about preparing for an upcoming exam? Are you trying to keep track of the names and numbers of folks you've met through online networking events? Perhaps you are preparing for school, in person, or in the virtual classroom. Maybe you are simply interested in learning different ways to take notes. We will discuss the different aspects to notetaking and the uses of adaptive notetaking tools and devices such as digital recorders, Braille devices, and notetaking solutions on smartphones.

One task our access technology team frequently assists with is device set up. With hands-on demos plus tips and tricks, we’ll show how we configure a PC or iPhone to be accessible as soon as we take it out of the box, and initial settings that can make the set up and learning experience go more smoothly.

G-Vibes are Gratitude Visually Impaired Blind Energizing Sessions. Gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gather online and share what you feel grateful for in a safe and welcoming space and hear what others share as well. These mid-week sessions can help you feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve your health, deal with adversity and build strong relationships.

Celebrate your body, open your mind and free your spirit in a body-positive dance and movement class dedicated to all that moves us. We will develop a moving meditation practice, affirm our truths through exploratory warm-up processes, generate movement and soundscapes through structured improvisation with props and learn many things from each other's body wisdom and movement sensibilities. All are welcome. No experience necessary. Dress comfortably and be ready to move.

Get your creative juices flowing every Thursday afternoon as the Craft Room reopens in person for us to explore a variety of different arts media and prompts that will change each month. Loose your curiosity and sense of play in a supportive space where you are welcome to experiment with the current projects or bring your own craft to work on alongside friends. No experience is necessary. Wear or bring something you don't mind getting dirty.

THIS MONTH: We will delve into the wonders of paper sculpture, focusing on creating dimensional paintings and vessels out of paper mulch and other paper sculpting tools and techniques. .
