9:30 am: The Business of Blindness: Coffee with Mike Cole (online)

What does it really mean to be a person who is blind or who has low vision? Mike Cole, a veteran of all things blindness, will lead this call-in forum to discuss the many day-to-day ins and outs of blindness, from daily living in your home environment to navigating the vast expanse of bureaucracies. There's always a lively crowd sharing their own experiences, so make a cup of coffee (or tea), sit in your favorite chair, and call in to chat about the business of blindness.

G-Vibes are Gratitude Visually Impaired Blind Energizing Sessions. Gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gather online and share what you feel grateful for in a safe and welcoming space and hear what others share as well. These mid-week sessions can help you feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve your health, deal with adversity and build strong relationships.

10:00 am: Sound Mind Body: Body Positive movement/Dance class (in-person)

This isn't your everyday dance class. It's a chance to experience the joy of movement he best way you know how while gently pushing your limits in a safe and supportive environment. Whether you enjoy meditative movement, breath work and yoga or have a flair for dances from Bollywood o ballroom, bring your heart and style to this class and share your love in motion with your community. This open-ended dance class celebrates you as the expert on your body, inviting you to dance from a chair or take over the floor. We warm up with intention, explore improvisation techniques, try on each other's movement styles and even perform for each other. Test your sense of spatial awareness, increase your flexibility and build confidence in the wonder that is you.

Get your creative juices flowing every week in the LightHouse Craft Room. We’ll explore a variety of different arts media and prompts that will change each month. Let loose your curiosity and sense of play in a supportive space where you are welcome to experiment with the current LightHouse projects, or bring your own craft to work on alongside friends. No experience is necessary. Wear or bring something you don't mind getting dirty.

This October, we will continue exploring book structures such as map fold books, one page zines and stab stitch books along with other paper things that cam be opened such as origami boxes and envelopes.
