    Join us online for a special Lighthouse Day Lunch and Learn celebration, June 10 from noon to 1:00 p.m. LightHouse CEO Bryan Bashin will kick things off with a welcome and share an update about LightHouse’s current programs and the future. Gil Johnson, a previous LightHouse Board Chair, longtime friend, and former staff member, will give us some interesting little-known facts about LightHouse history.

    At the conclusion of the hour, Enchanted Hills Camp Director, Tony Fletcher, and Rehabilitation Services Director, Kathy Abrahamson, will host a LightHouse trivia contest with prizes.

    EHC Give Back Summer Concert Series: Artist Graham Norwood (online)

    Join us for a Facebook Live concert series with marvelously talented musicians every Friday evening June 12 through August 8 at 5:30 p.m PST. Concerts benefit the life-changing programs of Enchanted Hills Camp and the installation of Chimehenge.

    We are raising money for Chimehenge, an interactive community musical instrument of epic proportions. Created by the fanciful scientist designers at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, ten-foot tall chimes of various widths are suspended on a frame that make musical tones when hit with mallets.
    This interactive, audible sculpture will be installed in a glen in the woods on an offshoot of the main nature trail at Enchanted Hills Camp for the Blind. Enchanting indeed!

    Help us raise $25,000 for the surfacing, trail extension and installation of Chimehange for our campers who have low vision and are blind.

    Attention architects, sign makers and graphic designers: Do you struggle with accessible signage? Are you familiar with the codes, but unclear on the reasons behind them? Do you think accessible signage has to be ugly to be compliant?
    LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired is hosting a training session that will explore the 2010 ADA Standards and 2019 California Building Code, the reasons behind them, and how to get the best possible accessible signage that looks elegant and satisfies the needs of multiple categories of users.

    Dazell Mallory, the Owner/Founder of Baywide Disability, has been practicing Social Security Disability Benefits advocacy and consulting since 2012. During his practice, he has had the opportunity to work with a diverse clientele nationwide in a variety of areas relating to SSI/SSDI. His practice incorporates all aspects of SSI/SSDI claims from pre to post-entitlement claims nationwide. Dazell’s experience with the Social Security system is deeply personal, having grown up low vision himself.

    This Zoom workshop will be a general overview of the Social Security Disability process. You will learn what It takes to qualify, what medical and work documentation you will need, as well as the different stages of appeals and what they are looking for and how to best prepare. We will also cover the various programs in the Social Security Disability benefits process that you may qualify for and related requirements. Finally, we will discuss post-disability claims and various work incentive programs available.

    This workshop is being brought to you free of charge thanks to generous support from the San Francisco Department on Disability and Aging (DAS).     Enchanted Hills Camp Virtual Adults with Developmental Disabilities Session - Redwood Rap Group

    Join us for a virtual Enchanted Hills Camp experience on Zoom daily from June 29 to July 2. Attend the "Redwood Rap Session” with LightHouse social worker, Jeff Carlson. The Redwood Rap Session is a week-long support group with the goal of discussing both LightHouse and other community service agencies which can help people increase independence in their daily lives

    The group will be discussion-based, so that participants can share as they wish both challenges and successes in adjusting to changing vision while doing daily activities, especially during this period of shelter in place, as we follow new protocols.

    Topics include:

    • access to reading materials
    • transportation
    • shopping
    • stress management
    • isolation challenges
    • hobbies, entertainment & advocacy groups
