G-Vibes are Gratitude Visually Impaired Blind Energizing Sessions. Gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gather online and share what you feel grateful for in a safe and welcoming space and hear what others share as well. These mid-week sessions can help you feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve your health, deal with adversity and build strong relationships.

3:00 pm: All Inclusive Asian Art Museum Experience (in-person)

Join LightHouse to visit San Francisco Asian Art Museum's latest exhibit: Carlos Villa: Worlds in Collision. We invite to experience Villa's “spectacular, visually magical worlds of feathers and photographs, capes and masks, bones and tattoos” (asianart.org). Our group will have an audio described tour of the exhibit followed by some interdisciplinary art making and poetry exploration inspired by Villa's work. After that, stay around for some light refreshment and a cello performance by Theresa Wong, who will create soundscapes inspired by the exhibit. This magical multidisciplinary is Free thanks to the Community Access Fund.

Can join us during this time? Any LightHouse staff or student may mention their affiliation to the LightHouse to receive free admission at any time space is available. The Asian Art Museum is located at 200 Larkin, across from the main branch of the public library. Meet us there or walk over with other students and volunteers from our 1155 Market headquarters.

6:00 pm: Audio Described Contemporary Ballet: SKETCH 12 Dear Diary (in-person)

Lighthouse students and staff have been offered FREE TICKETS to new contemporary ballet works with a pre-performance haptic experience, seating close to the stage and audio description during the show. Amy Seiwert's Imagery, a contemporary ballet company presents SKETCH 12: Dear Diary Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 7:30 pm | Haptic Access Tour prior to show at 6:00 pm. Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center for the Arts. SKETCH 12: Dear Diary presents three innovative new dance works exploring the bittersweet complexity of nostalgia. During a highly collaborative 5-week laboratory, choreographers Amy Seiwert, Natasha Adorlee, and Joshua L. Peugh created new ballet-based work while participating in a “crit group,” a creative feedback process rare in ballet settings. The result is three bold new works that welcome the choreographers, dance artists to take risks, shed old habits, and consider new perspectives. Live audio descriptions and haptic access tours will be provided by Gravity Access Services.

Join us at beautiful Junipero Serra Park in San Bruno from the Willow Shelter picnic site. Transportation will be provided from the San Francisco LightHouse location at 1155 Market Street. Get your creative juices flowing every Thursday afternoon as the Craft Room reopens in person for us to explore a variety of different arts media and prompts that will change each month. Loose your curiosity and sense of play in a supportive space where you are welcome to experiment with the current projects or bring your own craft to work on alongside friends. No experience is necessary. Wear or bring something you don't mind getting dirty.

THIS MONTH: We will delve into the wonders of paper sculpture, focusing on creating dimensional paintings and vessels out of paper mulch and other paper sculpting tools and techniques. .
