10:00 am: Hands on Workshop @ LightHouse Headquarters SF: Topic TBD
Aug 11 –
In this month's Hands On Workshop, we will explore ideas and methods for organizing and sprucing up your surroundings this Spring. We will look at organization and labeling methods, and participants will create a DIY cleaning spray and labels to use at home or office.
The Hands On Series of workshops are designed to not only provide information, but to provide hands on experience completing tasks and mastering skills. At the end of each workshop you will walk away with at least one skill that you can begin using in your life immediately. Each workshop will have a theme within the umbrella of Independent Living Skills. Themes may include; note taking, house hold projects, DIY cleaning products, make-up, household/office organization, container gardening and meal prepping just to name a few! Workshops will occur the second Mondays and Tuesdays of each month. It is not necessary to attend both workshops. Students of all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome to attend. Space is limited.
When & Where:
No prior knowledge is necessary to attend this free workshop. RSVP to Briana Kusuma at email@example.com or 415-694-7335.
2:00 pm: Tech Together
Aug 11 –
Do you use accessible technology regularly, but don’t have time to keep up with what’s new and what’s changing? Do you sometimes hit roadblocks in your technology use and wish you could problem solve with someone else? Do you love your iPhone or iPad and want to learn more about accessible apps? Are you a screen reader or magnification user who’s trying to adapt to increasingly complex websites? Do you just want to talk about technology and the latest developments for blind and low vision users?
Tech Together is a monthly technology learning group of blind and low vision technology users. People who are blind are resourceful and clever, but there is no reason we should each have to reinvent the wheel, or the app, for ourselves. In these sessions, we will discuss the topics that are of interest to the group, and help one another to understand troubleshooting, find app recommendations, and learn about the latest in Tech… Together! Each session will be facilitated by LightHouse Access Technology specialists, but the content of the event is for the participants to decide on for themselves. Come with ideas on topics and bits of news and software you want to share with your friends.
If you are brand new to access technology, you may wish to book an individual appointment with an Access Technology instructor before joining this group. This group is free and open to all, but a current LightHouse waiver is required. To make sure you are registered as a LightHouse student, contact Erin Luaridsen, Director of Access Technology, at 415-694-7368 or firstname.lastname@example.org
