The Blind Telephone network, originally founded by blind veterans, now is pleased to welcome all blind and low vision folks to join in phone calls will be held on Tuesday and Thursday of each week.

Tuesdays programs are what we call chit chat and chew the fat. During these sessions, most topics are acceptable; however, we refrain from discussing politics and religion. Prayer requests are acceptable, but will not be done during the call. This is a time for socializing, and sharing our experiences with blindness, in order to help others develop independence and self-confidence.

On Thursdays, we emphasize education, travel, technology, history, entertainment, and innovative role-models, etc.. These sessions will feature presenters on such topics as: Lewis and Clark expedition, Mt. Rushmore, railroad history and the mob museum in Las Vegas, Nevada.We encourage suggestions for topics or locations from our participants.

All sessions last for one (1) hour and start on time.

Bay Are Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP) Goalball Practice is a fun way to get exercise and meet new people. The practice is designed for beginners and experienced players. If you do not have your own equipment, we can provide you with both elbow and knee pads and eyeshades.

The 2024 Serria Regional Ski for Light (SRSFL) three-day cross-country ski event will be held in Truckee, CA from Saturday, March 2, to Monday March 4. SRSFL provides a cross-country skiing experience for people who are blind and visually impaired. Lodging will be at the Best Western Hotel in Truckee. Skiing will be at Tahoe Donner Cross Country.

Cost: $350.00, including equipment rental and $260 if you bring your own skis or snowshoes. These fees include two nights lodging (double occupancy) in Truckee, breakfasts and dinners, and trail passes for all three days. Note: Please add $200 if you wish to have a private room. You are on your own for lunches in Truckee. Tahoe Donner has a lunch menu, which does include vegetarian items.

For those coming from out of town, Friday, March 1, 2024, lodging will be at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, 10745 Gold Center Drive, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670, Phone: 916-858-8680. The cost is an additional $90.00 and a double $ 180 single (includes continental breakfast). SRSFL will hold an informal meet and greet from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. with a salad and pizza dinner. We will depart at 7:15 am. Saturday, March 2 from the Fairfield Inn for Tahoe Donner Cross Country.

TRIP FEES: Your trip fees are due by the sign-up deadline of February 16. To receive a refund, cancel on or before February 16. There will be NO refunds after this date.

Note:  Because of many generous donations to SRSFL, these fees are heavily subsidized.

Celebrating Michael Smuin includes two ballets, ZORRO! and FLY ME TO THE MOON.

About ZORRO!

A true swashbuckler, ZORRO! has not been performed since 2006. ZORRO! adapts the legend of the folk hero, setting the story at a movie theater in the 1950s.  Sensory alert: ZORRO! includes strobing lights and loud noises from whips.

Bay Are Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP) Goalball Practice is a fun way to get exercise and meet new people. The practice is designed for beginners and experienced players. If you do not have your own equipment, we can provide you with both elbow and knee pads and eyeshades.

When: Wednesdays, from 6:30pm - 9:00pm

Announcing the Blind Telephone Network 2024 program

The Blind Telephone network, originally founded by blind veterans, now is pleased to welcome all blind and low vision folks to join in phone calls will be held on Tuesday and Thursday of each week.

Tuesdays programs are what we call chit chat and chew the fat. During these sessions, most topics are acceptable; however, we refrain from discussing politics and religion. Prayer requests are acceptable, but will not be done during the call. This is a time for socializing, and sharing our experiences with blindness, in order to help others develop independence and self-confidence.

On Thursdays, we emphasize education, travel, technology, history, entertainment, and innovative role-models, etc.. These sessions will feature presenters on such topics as: Lewis and Clark expedition, Mt. Rushmore, railroad history and the mob museum in Las Vegas, Nevada.We encourage suggestions for topics or locations from our participants.

All sessions last for one (1) hour and start on time.
