    Stress Reduction & Meditation Goes Virtual

    Please note that although LightHouse is closed for the holidays, this virtual class is still being held on December 22.

    Each Wednesday morning we offer a series of short, meditation-based practices for relaxation and stress reduction. The group is appropriate for both beginners and advanced practitioners and instruction is provided in all aspects of the practice. Instructor Jeffrey Schneider has more than 40 years of meditation and teaching experience. It is a virtual class using the Zoom platform—everyone is welcome as little or often as they like. Dial in, find a comfortable position, breathe deeply, clear your head, and de-stress.

Our Summer themed nature program will consist of three zoom-based classes that take place Friday, May 21st and Saturday, May 22nd. Participants will learn and discuss topics such as the tides, the moon and fire ecology. Our program this time around will also host some friendly competition over some EHC sound trivia and a virtual s’mores cook off. LightHouse students that sign up by Friday, May 14th will get a package in the mail filled with nature artifacts that LightHouse and WOLF school staff have collected that you can use to enhance your nature educational experience and gain a deeper connection to EHC and our community.

    Summer in the City: TMAPs will get you moving!

    Whether your summer plans include a vacation to a favorite destination or a staycation in your town, it’s time to get navigating with tactile maps! Hear from Greg Kehret, Director of Media and Accessible Design Laboratory at San Francisco’s LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, as he introduces TMAP, a tool to generate tactile maps. Experts from the APH will share how to use the PixBlaster to print TMAPS and will also explore ways to create and embellish tactile graphics using low-tech products.

The program begins the first Monday of every month and runs each weekday. This comprehensive month-long training is specifically designed for people who are blind and have low vision. We are committed to providing group and individual guidance from the fundamentals of job search, to the complexities of disclosure of one’s disability with pride and confidence, to instruction on job search techniques, to honing interview skills. Most importantly, this program focuses on the participant’s individual job goals.

    Stress Reduction & Meditation Goes Virtual

    Please note that although LightHouse is closed for the holidays, this virtual class is still being held on December 22.

    Each Wednesday morning we offer a series of short, meditation-based practices for relaxation and stress reduction. The group is appropriate for both beginners and advanced practitioners and instruction is provided in all aspects of the practice. Instructor Jeffrey Schneider has more than 40 years of meditation and teaching experience. It is a virtual class using the Zoom platform—everyone is welcome as little or often as they like. Dial in, find a comfortable position, breathe deeply, clear your head, and de-stress.
