Sensing the Seasons on Zoom: Virtual Outdoor Education Retreat at Enchanted Hills Camp (online)

    Jun 12 Jun 14

Sensing the Seasons on Zoom: Virtual Outdoor Education Retreat at Enchanted Hills Camp
Friday, June 12 through Sunday June 14

Back in November, the LightHouse Youth Program started hosting a seasonal outdoor education retreat, Sensing the Seasons, at EHC where youth learned more about nature and gained a deeper connection to EHC and our blind and low vision community. After the spread of Covid-19 we postponed our spring session of Sensing the Seasons to help flatten the curve. As we all do our part to keep others safe by physically distancing ourselves, we know lots of our blind and low vision friends are now feeling isolated at home and are looking for more connections to nature. To help with this, LightHouse invites you to join us for a modified virtual session of Sensing the Seasons.

This virtual Sensing the Seasons program will be hosted via Zoom on the weekend of Friday, June 12 through Sunday, June 14.

Our morning nature activities will be teaching us about flowers, birds, pollination and migration. The Afternoons and evening activities will have us connecting with your community and our camp with EHC history lesson and our virtual campfire. The program has been packed full of thought-provoking activities for students to learn and develop many skills from the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) from the WOLF School Naturalists and our experienced LightHouse for the Blind and Low Vision mentors. The ECC concepts that are addressed during our upcoming retreat include: independent living skills; sensory efficiency; self-determination; social interaction skills; and recreation and leisure.

Who: Youth between the ages of 12 and 20 that are low vision or blind as well as all past guests of past Sensing the Season and Health and Wellness Retreats participants
What: Virtual Enchanted Hills Outdoor Education Retreat
When: Friday, June 12 through Sunday June 14
Where: from the safety of your home via Zoom meeting
    RSVP: Monday, June 8

If you have any questions or would like to sign up for the Sensing the Seasons on Zoom, please contact Jamey Gump at youth@lighthouse-sf.org or (415) 694-7372.
