    G-Vibes are Gratitude Visually Impaired Blind Energizing Sessions. Gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gather online and share what you feel grateful for in a safe and welcoming space and hear what others share as well. These mid-week sessions can help you feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve your health, deal with adversity and build strong relationships.

    Get your creative juices flowing every Thursday afternoon as the Craft Room reopens in person for us to explore a variety of different arts media and prompts that will change each month. Loose your curiosity and sense of play in a supportive space where you are welcome to experiment with the current projects or bring your own craft to work on alongside friends. No experience is necessary. Wear or bring something you don't mind getting dirty.

    THIS MONTH: We will delve into the wonders of paper sculpture, focusing on creating dimensional paintings and vessels out of paper mulch and other paper sculpting tools and techniques. .

    Join the LightHouse’s monthly access Technology Spanish meeting. Tecnología para todos is a space where users share their knowledge and experience. Each month, we talk about services, applications and devices available for blind and low vision users.

    This event will be conducted using the Zoom platform. You can connect to Zoom using a computer, an app, or by dialing in from any phone. Zoom meeting details will be provided when you RSVP by email to: jcolon@lighthouse-sf.org or by calling 415-694-7323.

  • Audium - Immersive Sound Experience (in-person)

    Audium - Immersive Sound Experience (in-person)

    LightHouse students and staff are invited to a free private showing that will include an introduction to Audium, a descriptive tour of the art in the lobby, a forty-five-minute immersive exploration of San Francisco's soundscapes in a totally dark theater and finishing with a chance to speak with Audium originator's son who is offering us this fabulous opportunity. The performance will start promptly at 2:00, please arrive early.

    If you would like to learn more about Audium, check out their website. Audium is located at 1616 Bush Street near the corner of Franklin, a block away from Van Ness. (Restrooms are not wheelchair accessible.)

    Is it time to go back to school, return in-person to the Lighthouse or head off to Hogwarts? Well, this August, Lighthouse participants of all ages get the chance to do it all! Just around the time that most are going back to school and as the Lighthouse Community Services team gears up for in person fall programs our program team invites you to join us for an audio described live performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. "Have you ever imagined what Harry Potter might be doing when he grew up?" This is your chance to find out.

    Who: LightHouse participants and staff of all ages and one guest  Please note - our ticket numbers are limited and students of the LightHouse will be given priority

    What: Haptic tour and audio described theatrical performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

    When: Thursday, August 18th from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm - including Haptic Tour, social time with snacks, and the play itself (the runtime for the play is 3.5 hours with an 18-minute intermission)

    Where: The Curran Theater located @ 445 Geary St, San Francisco, CA 94102

    Cost: $76 per person (including: ticket and charcuterie snack box)

    RSVP: Sign-ups will be taken on a first come first serve basis starting 9:00 am Monday June 27 and will wrap up on Friday July 29. Please email us at CommunityServices@lighthouse-sf.org to secure your ticket.

    LightHouse is pleased to announce that in collaboration with the San Francisco Department of Environment, we will be hosting an educational training session on waste management for our staff and community members on August 24 at 1:00 PM. This training will be a virtual event hosted via Zoom.

    The training will focus on waste management, and will include the “what, where, how, and why” for handling your everyday waste streams of recycling, compost, and landfill. This training will be beneficial to all LightHouse staff and students – not only when at 1155 Market St., but in your everyday travels and at home as well. Together, we can learn best practices in caring for our local environment.

    Working professionals and job seekers alike unite online and in person at the LightHouse HQ (1155 Market St., San Francisco) for a juicy conversation exploring favorite interview questions and how they may be answered.

    In person students can join at 6:00 for a catered meal and drinks ($10 at the door) and social hour. At 7:00, we welcome our online contingent to the mix when we will challenge each other with the best interview questions ever.

    Join us as we travel Rose Resnick’s journey guided by her own words. Rose was an American musician, educator, and philanthropist. She lost her sight at the age of two--the result of measles. She was co-founder and co-director of the Enchanted Hills Camp for the Blind in California, and a leader in San Francisco's blind community for decades. This book is available on BARD.
