SALARY RANGE:   $24/hr.-$26/hr.

JOB PURPOSE

LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, headquartered in downtown San Francisco, is looking for a full-time Maintenance Technician to focus on maintaining our machines & supporting equipment at our Sirkin Center at Light House Industries in Alameda.

This individual will fill a valued role in our growing organization. The Maintenance Technician/Back-Up Machine Operator will have the mechanical aptitude to keep our machines in top operating mode and assist to run the machines as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:     High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:   Maintenance background, diagnostic skills, PLC, ability to work with little supervision.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow up on proper start up & shut down procedures & timers. (Hot Melt, Air Compressors Fillers)
  • Change Belts and Bearings /Hoses and electrical
  • Familiar with PLC diagnostics and changes
  • Make sure all safety guards are in place & functional
  • Ability to run machine in operator’s absence
  • Catalog all parts, suppliers, costs, purchases & where part is used
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies
  • Performs inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt
  • Establish and maintain communication with appropriate equipment vendors and suppliers
  • Work with Operators on maintenance logs

  • Maintain current MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) binder & proper chemical labeling
  • Maintain “Good Housekeeping Procedures. Make certain trash bin is put out weekly
  • Make sure everything is in its proper place to avoid potential hazards
  • Make sure the machine is locked out when it is being worked on
  • Wear your eye & hearing protection when required, when operating shop tools or equipment
  • Report all accidents or safety concerns to your supervisor at once
  • Never perform a task if you feel it is unsafe until you talk to a manager
  • Display “Good Manufacturing Practices”
  • Follow SOP guidelines
  • Support team leads with tasks given to get the job done
  • Lift /Carry 60lbs throughout the day
  • Stand for lengthy periods and climb up and down ladders
  • Function as a backup machine operator
  • Any other duties as assigned by Plant Manager

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Occasionally/Frequently/Continually required to stand, walk, and sit
  • Occasionally/Frequently/Continually required to lift/push/carry items up to 60 pounds
