GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Laboratory and QA Technician 1 plays an important part within the Quality Unit at LightHouse Industries. With a budding chemical manufacturing operation, the Laboratory and QA Technician 1 will be on the ground floor, helping the team perform. This position will help in performing daily quality tasks, lab maintenance, and work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager to assist where needed. The position will start as part time and quickly work into a full-time role as we continue to grow at a rapid pace.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school education/GED required, bachelor’s degree in associated field preferred

Other Qualifications: Minimum 1-2 years working in quality assurance/quality control environment.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure laboratory cleanliness and safety standards are maintained and that laboratory is always inspection ready
  • Perform daily sample collections and testing raw incoming water and deionized water
  • Perform inspections and testing for incoming production materials.
  • Carry out cleaning validation on production equipment
  • Perform in process testing and monitoring chemical blending and dilutions as assigned
  • Carry out final product testing and performance evaluations according to SOPs
  • Exhibit detail oriented documentation skills and maintain accurate record keeping
  • Perform scheduled calibration of QC equipment, devices and instruments and update records accordingly
  • Prepare reagents, agar, routine bench chemicals for analysis and sample testing
  • Clean and sterilize glassware for chemical and microbiological analysis according to SOP
  • Label and identify lab chemicals and solutions as assigned
  • Participate in QA/QC audit activities as assigned
  • Receive and provide training on GMP internally
  • Communicate quality and compliance concerns with urgency
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the quality assurance manager
  • Assist quality assurance manager in general tasks were needed
  • Have a basic understanding of analytical laboratory equipment
  • Have a basic understanding and working knowledge of handling strong acids, bases, potent chemical compounds, and microorganisms
  • Have a basic knowledge of laboratory safety requirements
  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Have competency in the use of Microsoft platforms and Office 365
  • Have excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift and or move up to 30 pounds occasionally
