LightHouse Youth Leadership Workshop: Career Paths – Learning About and Researching your Dream Career

LightHouse is launching a Youth Leadership series for blind and low vision youth and transition-aged students, and you’re invited! Join the LightHouse Youth program in 2016 for exciting and enriching new programs through the LightHouse Youth Leadership Series.

We’ll start our workshop series in January with an in-depth discussion about career exploration. Students will learn firsthand about all types of careers from successful blind and low vision individuals who work in a wide range of fields. By the end of the workshop, students will have learned techniques and methods for researching potential careers in order to find the job best suited to them.

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This coming year, we will offer additional all-day Saturday workshops that will strengthen, grow and shape you into a dynamic leader. In these workshops you will learn how to:

•use technology that will empower you
•use blindness skills that will enrich your life and help you achieve your goals,
be more confident and learn how to advocate for your needs
•navigate through any system to ensure that you receive the accommodations necessary to be successful
•smoothly transition into college from high school
•become gainfully employed by utilizing tips, tricks and skills every blind and low vision person should know
•network with peers and learn how to find mentors in your field of interest
