Position Title: Employment Program Counselor

Organizational Description: Mission Hiring Hall is a grassroots non-profit organization located in the Mission and South of Market Areas of San Francisco. Our mission is to meet the immediate and long-term employment needs of San Francisco’s employers and its low- to moderate- income, unemployed and underemployed residents.
Job Summary: Our organization is seeking one qualified and dedicated Program Counselors to work in diverse teams under the supervision of Program Manager. The Program Counselor will be responsible for the following duties in order to achieve team outcomes: client intake and assessment, case management, job development, classroom instruction, record keeping and report writing, development and application of office procedures, and team facilitation. The Program Counselor duties may also include additional tasks to achieve outcomes as a functioning team. This position requires very strong computer skills, adaptability, independent judgment, initiative, teamwork and the ability to work well with diverse populations.

Minimum Qualifications:
– HS Diploma and one year experience in similar environment
– Able to identify and address barriers to employment
– Excellent interpersonal, written, and telephone communication skills
– Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet Explorer
– Strong organizational skills
– Work effectively under pressure
– Public Speaking skills
– Work as part of a team for one common goal
– 6 month commitment
Preferred Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Business Administration, Public or Non-profit Administration, Education, Community Development or related field.
– Bilingual: Spanish or Chinese
– Understanding of workforce development concepts and strategies
– Familiarity with San Francisco community and workforce development sector
– Previous Database management is preferred as well as excellent Excel skills
We offer:
– Starting salary range $30,000 – $34,000 annually (depending on experience)
