YOU’RE INVITED TO APPLY!  The Marin County Human Resources Department and the Retirement Department are announcing a recruitment for the position of Retirement Benefits Supervisor.  The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancy and any future vacancies that may occur.  Eligible lists remain active for a minimum of six (6) months.

TENTATIVE EXAM SCHEDULE:  Depending on the number of qualified candidates, a supplemental application screening, oral examination, or combination may be used to determine which candidates’ names will be placed on the eligible list.

WRITTEN EXAMINATION: THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 2009
ORAL EXAMINATION: FRIDAY, JULY 10, 2009

DUTIES:  Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
•Assigns, participates, coordinates, prioritizes, and evaluates work; schedules and monitors flow and quality of work.
•Supervises the staff engaged in performing computations and maintenance of members’ retirement records.
•Participates in the planning, selection, orientation and evaluation of employee performance.
•Assists in developing, reviewing and modifying division procedures to improve service delivery.
•Makes recommendations in consultation with Retirement Administrator and MCERA Counsel in the interpretation and application of laws, including the 1937 Act, County Employees Retirement Law, and policies and procedures to solve specific problems related to conflicting, ambiguous or contradictory guidelines related to complex cases.
•Oversees preparation of disability cases including analyzing records, coordinating claims, scheduling medical appointments, coordinating with parties, and reporting on status of disability processing and statistical analysis of claims.
•Oversees record management for all active, deferred, retired and separated members of the retirement system.
•Reviews work for accuracy, adequacy, compliance with pertinent laws, regulations, standards, policies, procedures.
•Provides special training to improve work quality or solve complex work problems.
•Supervises the computation and establishment of records for members requesting reciprocity.
