Low Vision Clinic
The Low Vision Clinic, a collaboration with the University of California at Berkeley School of Optometry has been making the LightHouse a one-stop shop for vision rehabilitation since 2005.

The LightHouse, in partnership with the UC Berkeley School of Optometry, offers low vision examinations each Friday at its offices in San Francisco. This service includes an hour-and-a-half long low vision evaluation by Dr. Robert Greer and a follow-up visit with a LightHouse Rehabilitation Teaching Specialist. Please note that the examination is NOT a substitute for regular visits to your eye doctor. However, the Low Vision Clinic offers an alternative to those for whom traditional optometry and glasses no longer help. The Low Vision Specialist can recommend various strategies and techniques, as well as prescription adaptive devices that might help maximize your residual, functional vision.
If you are unsure whether you are a candidate for a low vision exam, speak with your primary eye care professional or give us a call. Our staff would be happy to guide you through the process.

Low vision exams are covered by Medicare and Medi-Cal, and a few private insurance companies. The best way to know whether or not you are covered is to ask your current medical professionals.
