NVDA: Know A Screen Reader Better

NVDA: Know A Screen Reader Better

Mar 31

Considering a cost-free alternative to JAWS? Wondering about a replacement for Window-Eyes? On Saturday, March 31 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. LightHouse for the Blind will be giving a workshop on NVDA, or NonVisual Desktop Access, a free screen reader for Microsoft Windows.

Topics covered during the workshop will include:

  • Personalization of NVDA by adjusting speech and keyboard settings
  • Navigation of web content and objects
  • Management of add ons to enhance functionality
  • Setting up a portable installation to run NVDA from a flash drive

This workshop will be held at the LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired San Francisco headquarters on the 10th Floor of 1155 Market Street.

If you are interested in attending this free workshop please call Christina Daniels at (415) 694-7315 or email cdaniels@lighthouse-sf.org.

If you have never used a PC screen reader before, we recommend that you schedule a free individual training instead of the group workshop. If so, let us know and we’ll get you set up.
