Perceptions Presents:
Professional Development for Artists
Insights 2008 opened on October 2 in the Arts Commission Gallery in San Francisco City Hall. This 19th annual Insights contains a number of stunning works, many of which are tactile. Perceptions, a subsidiary of Insights focused on supporting the growth of visually impaired artists participating in LightHouse programs, is presenting a series of workshops and lectures.
The inaugural event for Perceptions 2008 is a lecture on Professional Development for Artists with informative presentations geared towards promoting artists’ careers.
Listen online: "Professional Development for Artists" Tuesday, October 21, from 1:15 to 2:30 pm.
- The first presentation will feature Kari Orvik, photographer, former Insights Coordinator and LightHouse staff member. Providing high quality, representative images of your artwork is a key step to getting it into an art exhibition. Kari will give a brief outline on how to best photograph artwork for submission.
- The second presentation will be by Jonathan Wind, partner in the Paul Mahder Gallery, and a member of this year’s Insights Artist Advisory Board. He will be speaking to the interests and needs of galleries and will discuss how they select works for display.
- The third and final presentation will be given by Ketra Oberlander, former Insights artist and art marketing expert.
