It has been a year since the Wine Country wildfires destroyed half of the structures and cabins at Enchanted Hills Camp for the Blind.
With support from our devoted staff and individuals in the community we were able to get camp back up and running with temporary bungalows, port-a-potties and loads of hard work. We had an incredible summer 2018 camp season, with more than 70 blind teens attending the largest Teen Session ever.
“We have an outstanding staff and we couldn’t have done it without the generosity of the community,” says Enchanted Hills Camp Director Tony Fletcher. “The campers celebrated the rebirth of their beloved camp. It was just a really positive experience all around, for all of us. The reward was the happiness of our campers. Pure and simple.”
Tony is careful to remind us, though: “We’re not done.”
Over the next year, Enchanted Hills Camp has a lot to accomplish:
We need to rebuild the storage barn, construct the shade structure and pool house area, add more outdoor showers, and most of all, select our architect and present a master plan for the total rebuilding of ten cabins in our lower camp area. This is a process that will require continued kindness and support from people like you.
Donate to help shape the future of Enchanted Hills Camp.
No amount is too small or insignificant, and every dollar donated will go to ensuring that the coming years will bring new growth and opportunity for our home away from home. Donate below or contact Jennifer Sachs at 415-694-7333 or email@example.com and tell her you want to help “Rebuild EHC” to learn more about providing dedicated funds to rebuild and re-open camp to the public.
Volunteers are essential in our efforts to build a strong EHC for our community and future generations of campers. If you’re interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities at EHC, contact our Volunteer Department at firstname.lastname@example.org.
