Request a Volunteer

LightHouse volunteers are here to support you and your independence. Volunteers are trusted and reliable members of the LightHouse community who can assist you in a variety of tasks and activities around your home, the neighborhood, and/or around town. Volunteers are matched one-on-one with you, you both will set your own schedules, and you will hopefully develop a great partnership and friendship!

All volunteers are trained, background checked, and approved to work with the LightHouse community. There are two types of one-on-one volunteers, Personal Service Volunteers, who work with you on a variety of personal and clerical tasks, and Fitness Partners, who will meet with you for whatever fitness activity or activities you would like.

Some examples of things that volunteers can do are:

  • Meet regularly to sort and read mail
  • Accompany you on errands, like the grocery store, the post office, and the library
  • Go on walks and explore the neighborhood
  • Go for a hike, a bike ride, or for a run

If you would like to know more about how a volunteer may meet your needs or to request a volunteer, please email volunteer@lighthouse-sf.org or call (415) 694 – 7320.

LightHouse is always looking for more volunteers, as one-on-one volunteers or in other capacities. If you would like to find out more about volunteering, please visit our volunteer page.
