A New LightHouse for the 21st Century
Join LightHouse in building a new West Coast Center of Excellence at 1155 Market Street in San Francisco!
Imagine a space designed by the blind for the blind, with carefully crafted details, using acoustics, tactile cues and targeted lighting to facilitate multi-sensory navigation. The new headquarters will feature dedicated accessible fitness and art rooms, a 12-person blindness skills training kitchen, a blind technology demo lab and a volunteer center, all just 15 steps from a BART and MUNI station.
What will really set the new LightHouse apart will be onsite dorms, so families and individuals can come and stay for intensive training. This will enable us to expand our geographic range and the depth of our services. From seniors experiencing macular degeneration to children starting life with diminished vision, our new building will accommodate all ages and allow us to triple the number of people we serve. Located in the center of San Francisco’s burgeoning mid-market tech community, LightHouse will be in the forefront of the development of new technologies. Our tech neighbors will find in the new LightHouse a place to connect and a partner to make the world a more accessible place.
You are Vital
LightHouse needs to reach a $5 million goal to help pay for our dramatic expansion of capabilities. We can’t achieve this goal without you. Your generosity will enable us to serve 10,000 blind and visually impaired people every year and bring the most innovative technology and pioneering teaching methods to people from all over the world.
Help us meet the needs of the blind community into the next century and beyond.
