4:00 pm: LightHouse Community Winter Trip with ETC4:00 pm: LightHouse Community Winter Trip with ETC – LightHouse Community Winter Trip with ETC Each year, LightHouse partners with our friends from Environmental Travel Companions (ETC) for their always awesome overnight White Water Rafting and Sea Kayaking excursions. In 2019 LightHouse is excited to announce that we will be adding one more of ETC’s epic adventures to our calendar. In January the LightHouse Community Services team invites all students ages 14 and up that are blind or have low vision to join us for our first ETC winter trip during the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. Our adventure will take us to the Sierra Nevada where we will meet our friends from ETC at their winter cabin in Arnold. The weekend will consist of all-day cross country skiing Saturday and a hike through the world's largest giant sequoias Sunday, before we return to the Bay Area on Sunday afternoon. Our trip will be led by the always fantastic ETC guides who will introduce you to basic skiing techniques and work with you at your skill level to challenge you while experiencing the fun and magic of ETC's winter trips. 10:00 am: Knitting10:00 am: Knitting – Every week, our knitters gather to share their purls of wisdom and get in the loop on each other’s latest project, and usually end up in stitches spinning yarns. Whether you knit for pleasure, distraction or just practical economics, or you’ve never done it before and want to give it a try, there’s always room for another loom. Learn, refine, or teach a skill that makes your gift-giving budget lighter weight or support a student-led altruistic project like knitting chemo caps, beanies for babies, lap blankets or other creative applications. For more info, needle Adult Program Coordinator Serena Olsen at solsen@lighthouse-sf.org or 415-694-7316. |
